The territory of Bagno a Ripoli is the confluence of valleys, namely that of the Valdarno and that of the Chianti, and the convergence of historic communication routes. With its countryside dotted with historic dwellings, castles and farm-villas, it is the ideal place for the starting point of many cultural and environmental excursions, designed to discover ancient peasant traditions and an area just a stone’s throw from the city, yet where the allure of times past is still strong.

Wide-ranging, ring-shaped excursion that will take us to discover the hills around Florence, the so-called “contado fiorentino” rich in historical-architectural evidence and natural beauty, up to the famous Convento dell’Incontro, from which we will enjoy a splendid view of the city and the hills surrounding it, until we reach the peaks of the Apennines and the ridges of the Apuan Alps.

Among chapels and parish churches, olive groves, deer and golf courses; with breathtaking views of the Florence basin
In this itinerary we will discover the countless treasures of the hills of Bagno a Ripoli.
The religious ones: the Pieve di San Pietro, the Church of San Tommaso a Baroncelli, the tiny Chapel of the Crucifix with the adjoining cemetery of Santa Teresa, the history of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, the Hermitage of Villa Gamberucci Ludovici.
The scenic ones: from the Villa Belvedere.
The cultural ones: the House of Machiavelli in Baroncelli.
The curious ones: the house of the… “pig.”
The botanical ones: a married vine.
The faunal ones: high probability of seeing deer.
The recreational ones: the Centanni complex consisting of a restaurant, residence and golf course.
The views will range from downtown Florence to Fiesole and Maiano, the mountains far away on one side, Poggio dell’Incontro and Paterno on the other.
